FAQS

The Franklin & Marshall ID Card is the official identification card of Franklin & Marshall College. It is issued to all members of the college community and is required for identification and access to essential campus services. It also offers a convenient account for making purchases on and off campus. All students, faculty, and staff are currently eligible to receive a Franklin & Marshall ID Card.
Students will receive their Franklin & Marshall ID Card during ‘Beginnings’ or at first year check in. Otherwise, cards are issued and distributed by the Auxiliary Services Office 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The Auxiliary Services office is located on the second floor of the Steinman College Center.
Immediately report a lost or stolen card to the Department of Public Safety (717-291-3939). A new card will be issued from the Auxiliary Service office the next business day or when you stop by. There is a $15 charge for lost or stolen cards. There will be no charge to replace cards that are not working due to normal wear and tear. To deactivate your Ben’s Bucks account, click here.
Your Student ID Number is located on the front of your Franklin & Marshall ID Card. It is not your social security number, but a unique number assigned by F&M.
Ben’s Bucks is a cashless, prepaid spending account on your Franklin & Marshall ID Card that is accepted on and off the Franklin & Marshall campus. You must add value to your account before using Ben’s Bucks to make purchases and have sufficient value available in your account to pay for each transaction. Every time you use your Ben’s Bucks account, the amount of the transaction will be deducted from your account and you may not spend more value than you have. Unused balances roll over semester to semester and year to year. Balances are refunded when requested either after graduation or when you leave F&M. See refund process below.
Funds transferred by debit/credit card and cash are available instantly.
Ben’s Bucks can be used at many campus locations and at off campus businesses. These can be identified by the “Welcomed” sign featuring the Franklin & Marshall ID Card and Ben’s Bucks logo. Click here for a complete list of accepting locations. Restricted items include: alcohol, tobacco, pornographic materials, and pre-paid and debit/cash cards
At retail locations, Ben’s Bucks works much like a debit or credit card. Just present your Franklin & Marshall ID Card for payment to the attendant at the register. Your card will be swiped in a terminal and the transaction authorized. You may be asked to sign a printed receipt of the approved transaction. At self-service locations, simply insert your card in the terminal.
If the self-service machine does not work properly, you will not be charged for the transaction. If for any reason you are charged, please email us a refund request. Please include the location, date & time of the transaction(s) in question.
Cardholder suggestions are welcome and encouraged. Recommendations can be sent via e-mail to our Recruitment Department. Please include the name of the location and why you would like to see them join the program.
